Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 12, 2026
This website is run by Valerie F Davis for School Board #3 2026 (FPPC ID# 1248526), the campaign committee for Valerie Davis. We keep this short and plain: we collect very little, we never sell it, and anything beyond what the site needs to work only happens if you say yes.
The short version
- There are no forms, accounts or sign-ups on this site. You can read all of it without telling us who you are.
- Like any website, our host keeps basic technical logs so the site can be delivered and protected.
- We use error monitoring to find and fix things that break. It sets no cookies and does not record your visit.
- Google Analytics and the video starting on its own only happen if you click “Accept”. “Reject” is just as easy, and you can change your mind any time.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show you targeted ads.
Who we are
The “controller” responsible for this website and the information described here is Valerie F Davis for School Board #3 2026, Fresno, CA. Email: valeriesunnyside@gmail.com.
Our web developer, Imaginarii, builds and runs the site for us. It works on our instructions and can see the hosting and error information described below.
What we collect, and why
1. Technical logs from our host (Vercel)
When you load a page, our hosting provider, Vercel, Inc., receives the information every browser sends: your IP address, browser and device type, the page you asked for, the page that linked you here, and the time. This is needed to deliver the site, keep it running and defend it against abuse. Vercel keeps these logs for a short period under its own retention settings.
Legal basis (GDPR): our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
2. Error monitoring (Sentry)
If something on the site breaks, in your browser or on our server, an error report is sent to Sentry, our error monitoring service. A report describes the error, the page address, and your browser and operating system, and your IP address passes through Sentry when the report is delivered. Sentry on this site sets no cookies, does not record your screen or session, and does not follow you across pages. Reports are kept for a limited period, then deleted.
We treat error monitoring as strictly necessary: it keeps the site working and secure, so it is not part of the cookie choice. Legal basis (GDPR): our legitimate interest in the security and integrity of the site.
3. Google Analytics (only if you accept)
If you click “Accept”, we load Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are read. It sets cookies and records things like the pages you view, how you arrived, your device and browser, and your approximate location (city or region). Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We look at this information in aggregate. We do not use it to identify you or to guess your political views.
If you click “Reject”, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Google Analytics is never loaded. Google keeps analytics data for 2 months (the GA4 property’s data-retention setting), after which it is deleted. Legal basis (GDPR): your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
4. Campaign videos (YouTube)
Our videos are hosted on YouTube and shown in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). The YouTube player is not loaded until a video is about to play; until then you see a still image served by this site. If you accept, the main video starts playing silently when you scroll to it. If you do not, it waits for you to press play. Once a video plays, Google receives your IP address and device information and may store data in your browser, under Google’s Privacy Policy.
Legal basis (GDPR): your consent for autoplay. When you press play, you are asking for the video, and we rely on our legitimate interest in showing it to you.
5. When you email us
The site lists our email address. If you write to us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to say. We use it to reply and to follow up on what you asked for (for example, an invitation to a neighborhood event). Our email is provided by Google (Gmail). We keep messages for as long as we need them for that purpose and for any record-keeping rules that apply to the campaign. Legal basis (GDPR): our legitimate interest in answering you, or steps you ask us to take.
6. Contributions
This website does not currently accept contributions or collect payment information. If that changes, we will update this policy first.
Cookies and similar storage
Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser. Here is everything this site uses. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
| Name | Set by | What it does | Type | Kept for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| vd-consent (browser storage, not a cookie) | This site | Remembers whether you accepted or rejected, so we do not ask on every page | Strictly necessary | 12 months, then we ask again |
| _ga | Google Analytics | Tells one visitor from another, without your name | Analytics, only if you accept | Up to 2 years |
| _ga_<ID> | Google Analytics | Keeps track of your current visit | Analytics, only if you accept | Up to 2 years |
| YouTube player storage | Google (YouTube) | Video playback and preferences, once a video plays | Only when a video plays (autoplay only if you accept) | Set by YouTube |
Error monitoring (Sentry) and our host (Vercel) set no cookies on this site. If you reject, or later withdraw your consent, we switch Google Analytics off and delete its cookies from your browser.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a “no” to everything optional: Google Analytics stays off and the video does not start on its own. We do not respond to the older “Do Not Track” signal, because there is no agreed standard for it, but GPC covers the same ground and we honor it automatically.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as California law defines those terms. We have not done so in the past 12 months. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.
Information is only handled by the service providers that make the site work, for the purposes above:
- Vercel, Inc. (hosting)
- Functional Software, Inc., doing business as Sentry (error monitoring)
- Google LLC (Google Analytics if you accept, YouTube video, and our email)
- Imaginarii (our web developer, which runs the site for us)
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the site, the campaign, or others from harm.
If you are outside the United States
This site is run from the United States, and our providers process information in the U.S. If you visit from the European Union, the UK or elsewhere, your information is transferred to the U.S. We rely on the safeguards our providers offer for those transfers, such as Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, where they apply.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to do any of the following, and we will not treat you differently for asking:
- Know and access: what personal information we have about you, and get a copy.
- Correct information that is wrong.
- Delete information we hold about you.
- Withdraw consent at any time, using “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page.
- Opt out of any sale or sharing. We do neither, and we honor GPC automatically.
California residents have these rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act. We do not collect sensitive personal information for the purpose of inferring characteristics about you, and we do not sell or share personal information of anyone under 16. You may use an authorized agent to make a request for you.
People in the EU, EEA and UK also have the right to restrict or object to our use of their information, to data portability, and to complain to their local data protection authority.
To make a request, email valeriesunnyside@gmail.com. We will confirm your request, may ask for information to verify who you are, and will answer within 45 days (or one month where GDPR applies). Most of what this site handles is not linked to a name, so we may not be able to find information about you, and we will tell you if that is the case.
Children
This site is for voters and the community. It is not directed to children under 13 (under 16 in the EU), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, email valeriesunnyside@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Keeping it safe
The site is served only over encrypted HTTPS connections, with browser security protections switched on. No system is perfectly secure, but collecting very little is the strongest protection there is, and it is the approach we take.
Other websites
This site links to and embeds content from other services, such as YouTube. Their privacy practices are their own, and we encourage you to read their policies.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and the “Last updated” date at the top. If a change means we would use information in a new way that needs your consent, we will ask again.
